Karyn’s experience of yoga began as a physical practice that morphed over time into a journey of self discovery and acceptance. Her goal as a teacher is to help create a feeling of ease within the practice for each student. Her classes draw inspiration from Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, a traditional philosophy developed by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois that involves a progressive series of postures coordinating breath and movement. She has also been heavily influenced by her study of Restorative Yoga with Erin Ehlers, a receptive and relaxing form of yoga that allows the practitioner to fully release physical and emotional tensions. Each class builds confidence and knowledge of one’s body through facilitation of a supportive and nurturing atmosphere. Karyn offers a balance between guiding students through the challenges of each posture as well as respecting and bringing awareness to their individual limits. She teaches from personal experience and shares her knowledge with clarity and joy. She has a wandering eye toward anything fun, exploratory and upside-down.
